Background
Metapop was a platform owned by Native Instruments focussed on connecting musicians and helping them improve their skill through challenges and collaboration opportunities.
Objective
The primary objective was to develop and execute an ongoing marketing strategy to drive user acquisition, retention, and re-activation while enhancing overall platform engagement and cultural relevance in the world of music production.
Solutions
1. Social Media Content Strategy
- We have implemented a diverse content strategy, including graphics and videos with music related educational content, industry-related memes, user-generated content and campaign promotions to engage, nurture and grow our audience on social media (Instagram in particular).
2. Community Activations
- We developed and distributed a monthly newsletters to keep users informed, engaged, and inspired to participate in platform activities.
- We launched interactive campaigns such as remix competitions and producer challenges with leading artists in the music industry to encourage participation, drive traffic to the platform and establish cultural relevance in the world of music production.

SONICLAB

Background
Metapop was a platform owned by Native Instruments focussed on connecting musicians and helping them improve their skill through challenges and collaboration opportunities. SONICLAB is a community-owned continuation of the Metapop platform. In this Discord server, users talk about music production, share tips and give feedback on each other’s tracks.
Objective
Native Instruments was going to sunset Metapop, a community platform with dedicated community members. This decision meant that the community would lose contact with each other after the platform closes down. We set out to create a solution to minimise community upset and help users stay connected while minimising costs and long-term commitment.
Solutions
1. Server creation and member on-boarding
- We created a Discord server for the most active Metapop users to stay connected and remain engaged in community activities.
- We have designed the Discord server's structure to make it easy for members to navigate and engage with content in a similar fashion to how things worked on the Metapop Platform.
- We ran an email campaign and on platform messaging on the Metapop platform incentivising users to join the Discord server before Metapop would shut down.
2. Hands-On Community Activations
- We launched creative challenges and online social events to inspire participation and reward contributions.
- We implemented a team of active, reliable and constructive community members to become moderators and helped the community to become independent and community lead.
3. Automated Community Activations
- We have implemented community specific emoji's, stickers and memes to build community.
- We have implemented server 'roles' based on interests, used software and music genres for users to select and showcase on their profiles.
- We have implemented gamifications into the server from the onboarding onward, like stats, levelling up opportunities and special roles using bots.

Levi's Music Project

Background
Imprint Projects has collaborated with Levi’s Global Brand Marketing team over the past seven years to develop the Levi’s Music Project, an initiative designed to fill the growing gap in music education caused by budget cuts. At the same time, the project has played a pivotal role in building Levi’s credibility and deeper engagement within music culture.
Objective
Until 2021, Levi’s Music Project focused on in-person activations in artists’ hometowns. However, due to the global pandemic, the program pivoted to a Discord-based virtual community to continue engaging with its audience in a meaningful way. As time went by and the world opened back up, the community became less engaged. The key objective was to re-activate and engage community members to continue to fulfil Levi’s mission of strengthening its cultural presence and authenticity within the music space.
Solutions
To encourage member interactions and foster a vibrant community, the following strategies have been implemented:
1. Server Layout and other Visual Enhancements
- We have redesigned the Discord server's structure to improve the user experience, making it easier for members to navigate and engage with content.
